Job Summary:
To inspect materials and finished goods for compliance with customer/internal drawings and applicable standards/specifications. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Functions:
All functions of Mechanical Inspector I
Obtains drawings (blueprints) and applicable standards/specifications for the item and particular order
Determines inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of standards and dimensions
Obtains the necessary inspection and test equipment to check the parts for compliance with standards within required tolerances
Verifies identification of part and supplier (internal or external). Performs inspection procedures including checking dimensions of related surfaces, holes, etc., as well as assessment of finish and hardness or other defects
Applies same procedures to machined parts processed by outside suppliers
Rejects unacceptable items and follows nonconforming product procedures
Notifies Lead/Manager of incorrect machining trends
Completes required Inspection Plans on all inspection activities
 
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
All knowledge, skills and abilities required for a Mechanical Inspector I
ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector preferred, but not required
Extremely knowledgeable of machining terms and specifications (Machinist Handbook, for example)
Strong drawing (blueprint) reading capability
Excellent visual inspection ability. Sufficient manual dexterity to handle and manipulate delicate parts and inspection/test equipment
Analytical capabilities to interpret detailed and complex drawings
